2/5/11

It has been a few weeks since I was able to post to the blog.  Let’s see all the things that have been going on.  Mom, Rosann, and I drove down to the ICES Day of Sharing in Boca Raton 1/30.  The demos were fantastic.  David Salgado and Magaly Bravo made incredible orchids, Fabiola Ortega Viacava showed us the latest gumpaste molds from Peru, Patrice Drinkard made beautiful Mardi Gras masks, Mary Martin taught us topsy turvy cake assembly, and Mercedes Strachwsky taught adorable fondant animal figures.  We had a great time seeing all our South Florida ICES friends.  Brevard County will host the next Day of Sharing on 6/26 at the Melbourne Beach Hilton.  More info to come.

I’ve taught a few homeschool classes this month.  And Monday starts basic cake decorating classes at Crane Community Center in Melbourne.  Call 321-255-4809 for more information.

I made a graffiti cake for Israeli exchange students Micha and Guy.  They were celebrating their birthdays while they were in the US!  It was great to meet you guys.

I’ve been busy tempering chocolate for Ecole Chocolate the last few weeks.  This week I will be having taste tests of various chocolate I ordered in.  Any volunteers?

And I’ve been playing with a lot of blown sugar as well.  We plan to take the class on the road next month to the Florida Iced Cake Competition.  For more info please check out their website at floridaiced.com.

We hope everyone can come out the Extreme Makeover: Space Coast Viewing Party on Feb.13 from 6-9 at the Cocoa Beach Hilton.  The Hurston Family will be there and we will be serving the cake!  Everyone is invited!

Lots more coming soon…

Take care and “Keep Life Sweet” ,

Sidney
