We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day. – Edith Lovejoy Pierce

Happy New Year Everyone!

We are so thankful for all our wonderful Cake Friends and Family we have gotten to know the last few years!  Happy 2013, we hope this year is filled with joy, love, health, and prosperity for you, your families and your cakes adventures!  Whether it be in your personal cake business, starting a cake club, signing up to compete in a competition, or just trying something you have always wanted to make, but were always a little tentative, this is the year!  Go for it!  We are so lucky in the Cake and Sugar Arts that we have so many opportunities to learn and so many amazing teachers to learn from.  So this year do something you always wanted to try and see where it takes you!

This year I am thinking big!  I’m debuting my Frameworks Molds to create super structures for one of a kind centerpieces to take your pieces to new heights and your imagination is your only limit.  Check out the Valentine Cake Topper to see an idea of what you can create at www.simicakes.com  Look for new classes being added every week and I’ll see you in 2013!

Tip of the Week

I want to suggest a wonderful resource for tips, tricks and helpful information on baking.  Check out The Home Baking Association Website:  http://www.homebaking.org/index.html

They have recipes and videos for baking cakes, breads, pies, pizza crust, and more.  And their baking tips page is very helpful from baking pans to substituting sweeteners to measuring.  You can also follow them on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/homebakingassociation Enjoy!

Keep Life Sweet,
